The M635e is the first global multi-radio M-SoM from Particle — one M.2 module that connects your product over LTE-M and 2G cellular, and adds NB-NTN satellite backup on the Skylo network for the moments terrestrial coverage isn't there. It's Skylo-certified, so you can deploy on the Skylo network without running your own network certification — the module carries it, taking a costly, time-consuming step off your path to launch. One design, deployed anywhere your fixed installations need to keep reporting: remote sites, out-of-coverage locations, and places a tower never reached. Dual-band Wi-Fi and BLE handle local setup and on-site connectivity, and on-board GNSS lets the device report its own position.
Your application runs on the module — not just a modem
At the heart of the M635e is a 200MHz Arm Cortex-M33 with 2 MB of user application space, 3 MB of RAM, and enough headroom to run Edge ML — paired with a Quectel connectivity module. Your firmware runs on the same processor as Particle's Device OS, so the M635e can be the intelligence behind your product, not a separate modem you build a host controller around. Cellular, 2G, and NB-NTN satellite are three modes of one radio on one antenna path; Device OS manages which link is in use, with on-module cellular-to-satellite failover part of the design and rolling out.
Built to scale from prototype to production
The M635e's compact M.2 form factor — about the size of a large postage stamp — is optimized for mass production and drops into your board via a standard M.2 NGFF connector, so modules are easy to change or upgrade as your design evolves. Managed connectivity means no plastic SIM to source and no per-region carrier contracts to juggle. Prototype on the Muon development board, then move to the bare module for volume — same software, same platform, the whole way.
Deploy and manage the whole fleet from one platform
Events from the M635e land in the Particle cloud the same way cellular events do — same console, webhooks, and integrations. Push firmware and application updates over the air across your deployed fleet over cellular, watch real-time fleet health, and manage connectivity from one place. Device, connectivity, and fleet operations come from a single vendor, so you build one product and run it everywhere your sites are — without stitching together a module, a SIM, and a cloud from three different suppliers.
For prototyping, consider the Muon board — the developer kit for the M-SoM, which also adds LoRaWAN support.
One portfolio, prototype to production
The M635e is part of Particle's M-Series, a family built around the M-SoM and a common architecture and software platform. Start on the Muon development board for prototyping, move to the bare M635e module for your own board at volume, and reach for the industrial-grade Monitor M gateway where you need a ready-made enclosure and I/O — the same Device OS and Particle cloud the whole way. It's a deliberate path from first prototype to deployed fleet, so the work you do early carries straight through to production.
